To can, to put-up to dry and then swap!

After a full summer and autumn season of putting up, whipping up, drying,  canning, soaking, mixing, stacking, sorting, and setting aside for winter, come celebrate by bringing your favorite creations to swap with fellow Olympia  foodies. For those who love to cook and share, this is the place for you to exchange your hand crafted items with others of like mind. We’re dedicated to having fun and meeting new people who love to over cook!

The first event will be held Thursday, September 29, and space is limited, sign up today! Event will be held at Grub and reservations are being handled through EventBrite.

A food swap is a gathering where your homemade creations (breads, preserves, special concoctions, canned goods) become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants.  Other cities with food exchanges include Portland, Bellingham, Brooklyn, Austin and LA. You may take home homemade jams, baked goods, or whatever strikes your fancy.

What: Bring an assortment of your homemade edibles and/or body care and household specialties to exchange for other handcrafted delights. Olympia Food Swap organizers will provide swapping cards, name tags, and organization for the event. You will be given the opportunity to offer trades in a silent-auction type format, and you will be free to choose which trades to accept for your products. Bring as much or as little as you like; there are no caps or minimums. The swap will include a potluck.

Who: Olympia and Thurston County vicinity swappers. Please, adults only as we are unable to provide childcare for this event. Nursing babies are welcome. Event limited to 30 participants.

Cost: Free, but donations accepted.
